Medicare Questions

  • What is Medicare?

    Medicare is a federal health insurance program for U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents who are 65 or older, certain younger people with disabilities, and people with End-Stage Renal Disease. It is divided into four parts: A, B, C, and D.

  • What does Medicare Part A cover?

    Medicare Part A covers inpatient care in hospitals, hospice care, home health care, and care received in a skilled nursing facility. It includes benefits such as a semi-private room, medications, meals, social services, and lab services.

  • How much does Medicare Part A cost?

    For most people, Medicare Part A is premium-free if they or their spouse have worked and paid Medicare taxes for at least 10 years. If you do not meet these requirements, you may pay a premium based on the number of quarters you have worked.

  • What is Medicare Part B?

    Medicare Part B covers medical services outside of a hospital setting, such as outpatient procedures, preventive care, and telehealth visits. It typically covers 80% of approved services, with the remaining 20% being out-of-pocket unless additional coverage is in place.
